01 / Profile

Online, no semester window, with a university degree.

IDM Campus is a pure online academy based in Feldkirch, Vorarlberg. What makes it interesting for working professionals only becomes clear on second look: the programmes are fully online, they start at any time, and the degree still comes from a state university.

The operation is run by IDM Campus GmbH. The academic degrees, however, are not awarded by it but by Burgenland University of Applied Sciences, its cooperation partner for the MBA programmes and the DAS and CAS university programmes. In Austria this is an established model for academic continuing education, and it is the reason an MBA from IDM Campus is a state-recognised master's programme under § 9 FHG rather than a mere certificate.

The portfolio covers eight MBA distance programmes, five DAS and two CAS university programmes, plus diploma courses, short certificates and certificate courses in artificial intelligence. None of it requires attendance. Anyone who has tried to combine a part-time degree with shift work, field sales or family life knows that this is where most plans fail, not on the subject matter.

There is a second reason for this cooperation: I am studying there myself. I am taking the MBA in Business Informatics on a full scholarship from IDM Campus and documenting the process publicly. What a part-time MBA can and cannot do in general is covered on the MBA page.

02 Strengths

What IDM Campus stands for

Four profiles for which I often point people there.

01

No waiting for the semester

You can start at any time. Someone who decides in March starts in March, not in October. It sounds like a detail, but it often decides whether a plan turns into anything at all.

02

MBA without a first degree

The 120 ECTS variant is open without a bachelor's degree if there is enough relevant work experience. For practitioners with leadership responsibility but no academic first degree, that is a realistic route to a master's.

03

Generous credit transfer

Up to 60 ECTS can be credited in the larger variant, and a completed DAS programme even counts for the full 30. Anyone who starts small and scales up later loses nothing along the way.

04

Short formats as an entry point

Besides the MBA programmes there are CAS, DAS, diploma courses and compact certificates, including in artificial intelligence. Useful for evidencing one specific competence without committing two years.

05 Common questions

FAQ about IDM Campus

What you should know before applying.

Status and recognition

Who awards the degrees at IDM Campus?

Not IDM Campus itself. The MBA programmes and the DAS and CAS university programmes run in cooperation with Burgenland University of Applied Sciences, and that institution awards the degree. IDM Campus organises teaching, support and delivery. This is a common model for academic continuing education in Austria and the reason the degrees are state-recognised.

Are the MBA degrees state-recognised?

Yes. The MBA programmes are state-recognised master's programmes under § 9 of the Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences Act, awarded by Burgenland University of Applied Sciences. They follow the Bologna Process and are generally recognised across the European Higher Education Area. For use in Germany or Switzerland the usual applies: assessment runs through ZAB and anabin, or through swissuniversities and the SBFI, individually per person and purpose.

Studying and applying

Can I take an MBA without a bachelor's degree?

In the 120 ECTS variant, yes. It accepts either an academic degree plus two years of work experience, or university entrance qualification plus four years of work experience, or completed vocational training plus five years of work experience, in each case with two years in a relevant field. The 90 ECTS variant does require a relevant degree at bachelor level or above.

How does the study programme work?

Fully online and alongside work, with no on-campus dates. You can start at any time, so there is no semester window to wait for. Assessment is through multiple-choice exams plus seminar papers or presentations per module, ending with a master's thesis and an oral final examination.

How much can be credited?

Up to 30 ECTS in the 90 ECTS variant and up to 60 ECTS in the 120 ECTS variant. A completed DAS programme is credited with the full 30 ECTS. What applies in your case depends on your prior learning and should be settled before you apply, not afterwards.

How long does an MBA take and what does it cost?

18 months in the 90 ECTS variant, 24 months with 120 ECTS, and early completion is possible. Tuition is EUR 9,900 in both variants. The language of instruction is German.

What does IDM Campus offer besides MBA programmes?

Alongside eight MBA distance programmes there are DAS and CAS university programmes, plus diploma courses, short certificates and certificate courses in artificial intelligence. The shorter formats are often the more sensible entry point when a full master's does not fit the calendar, and a DAS can later be credited towards the MBA.
