WBA is not a university. It is a state-licensed distance-learning institute. Eight subject areas, 100 % online, asynchronous. The right format for a particular kind of professional looking for upskilling.
Weiterbildungsagentur (WBA) was founded in 2009 in Lippstadt and belongs to Audiocation GmbH. Instead of Bachelor or Master programmes, it offers compact, practice-oriented certificate courses and coaching that fit into the everyday life of working people. Multimedia content, personal feedback from instructors, no mandatory attendance.
State recognition runs on three rails. The ZFU licence from the German State Centre for Distance Learning is mandatory for any serious distance-learning institute in Germany and has been in place at WBA since founding. The AZAV certification makes courses Bildungsgutschein-eligible, and ISO 9001 covers quality management. WBA is a member of the German Distance Education Association (Bundesverband der Fernstudienanbieter).
Practical relevance is signalled by the client list: DFL, Porsche, Red Bull, SAP and Coca-Cola use WBA programmes for their staff. Course content is built around real projects, not textbook examples.

Is WBA Academy officially recognised?
Yes. WBA has been licensed by the German State Centre for Distance Learning (ZFU) since 2009, holds ISO 9001 quality certification and is AZAV-approved for coaching. The result is certificates from a state-supervised distance-learning institute, not academic degrees.
What kind of qualification do I receive?
An institutional certificate from WBA. No Bachelor, Master or MBA. If you want an academic degree, a university is the better fit. If you want practical, market-relevant competence and funding via the German Employment Agency, WBA is the right place.
Course and funding
Can I take WBA courses alongside a job?
Yes. WBA is 100 % online and asynchronous. There are no fixed attendance dates. You work through the content at your own pace and receive personal feedback from instructors.
Do I need prior knowledge or a high-school diploma?
Most WBA courses have no formal prerequisites, no high-school diploma, no vocational training required. For specialist programmes such as Clinical Coding Specialist or Practice Manager, relevant work experience is recommended. In a first call I check what fits your profile.
Will the course be funded by the employment agency?
Yes. WBA is AZAV-certified and Bildungsgutschein-eligible. Funding routes: Bildungsgutschein, AVGS coaching voucher, Qualifizierungsgeld, Qualifizierungs-Chancengesetz, further-education stipend, military career service and regional education vouchers. In many constellations, 100 % funding is possible.

Costs vary by course and duration. With Bildungsgutschein or Qualifizierungsgeld funding, the participant share is often 0 €. We discuss the concrete conditions in a first call and I check whether you qualify for funding.
